Home Renovation Part 1: The Before

We're moving you guys! And I'm really excited.

The owner of our current house (our sister!) needs to move in so we need to move out!

We love the area we live in. It's called Brookswood and it's super "woodsy". There's a lot of land that hasn't been developed here yet and we really love the idea of having a big backyard and space for Harley and our future kiddos to play! Most of the houses here are really old and run down. We really liked this particular property but the house is pretty much un-livable as is. It needs a lot of TLC and some re-structuring! I'm going to attach a bunch of pictures at the end of this post so you guys can see - it's cringey.

The home we bought is a little log house. We call it our "Snow White Cottage". We want to keep a bit of the log house charm but we will be adding some plain walls as well to make it feel slightly more contemporary. Being surrounded by logs from every angle can be a bit overwhelming, dark and claustrophobic IMO.

This is our third home renovation project and each time my decor style changes. Haha! I guess that's the fun of these projects - I can switch it up each time since it isn't a "forever" home and really see what I like. This time around I'm going for a "SSS" meets "Amber Fillerup" vibe.

We just started the renovation process last week! The demolition is in progress and we expect the full renovation to take about 3 months. It's a small place!

The most exciting part of the renovation to me is the "kids" bathroom! I'm wanting to do something super fun and PINK in there (especially for Harley.) I've been browsing fun floor tiles constantly, but it's so hard to make up my mind. I've picked out a few that I like but if any of you have seen any fun, pink floor tiles please send those ideas my way in the comments!

I'm also really excited for the backyard once it's all cleaned up. I can't wait to get a good patio set up to read and drink coffee in the summer while Harley plays outside ... day dreaming over here!

Stay tuned for our "In Progress" and final "Home Tour" blogs to come over the next few months.
