Home Reno Part 2: The In-Between

Hey guys! I think it’s about time for a little home renovation update. But first, if you haven't seen the before pictures go look at them now.

The renovation has been keeping us so busy. It’s definitely been a nice distraction and something positive for us to focus on during this whirlwind of a pandemic. My husband usually works at the house everyday and I stay home with Harley making sure she’s safe, healthy & happy. Luckily, the majority of the design elements were all picked out before the virus hit hard, and I don’t have to be there on the daily making decisions.

The renovation has been a ton of work – but we expected it to be! It was a complete gut job, down to the stud and we are on fairly tight timeline. There have definitely been some delays due to COVID-19, and a few design changes that needed to happen as we couldn’t order as many products as we’d initially hoped to from the US. First world problems though …

Here’s what’s been done so far –

  • Asbestos Removal
  • Demolition
  • Framing
  • Plumbing Rough In
  • Drywall
  • Log Caulking
  • Paint

What’s left to do –

  • Floor Installation
  • Tile Installation
  • Cabinet Installation
  • Finish Carpentry
  • Finish Plumbing
  • Electrical
  • Carpet Installation
  • Textiles

My favourite part of the renovation so far is the new layout of the house. We actually have a HALLWAY now that leads to rooms – not just a hodge podge of rooms leading to other rooms! Everything is so crisp and clean. I can’t wait for the “design element” parts of the house to come together too so you can see, very very soon. I’ll give you a sneak peak of some of the bathroom tile below in the meantime … EEK.

The move-in goal date is April 19, wish us luck.
